SUMMER in Australia is the perfect time to head outside and cook up a feed on the barbecue — the only problem is nobody likes the tedious task of cleaning it after use.
For most Aussies, cleaning involves a quick once over and then regrets when you see how filthy your BBQ plates are the next time you go to cook a steak.
While it is one of the most Aussie of problems, it has taken a US company to come up with the solution in the form of the Grillbot Pro — the world’s first automatic grill cleaning robot that promises more time for froths and less time for cleaning.
The product is essentially a Roomba of BBQ cleaners and works by using three powerful electric motors, a gear box for degreaser spraying and three tiny metal bristles.
Designed for use on any style BBQ, the Grillbot starts with the push of a button and has a smart computer brain controlling 10, 20, or 30 minute cleaning cycles and the speed and direction of the brushes.
“The Grillbot comes with an LCD alarm and timer that can be set for a light scrub, deep clean or something in between,” according to the makers.
In addition to being able to select the length of the cleaning cycle, you can buy different brushes for different BBQ types - brass bristle brushes for stainless steel and porcelain coated plates or stainless steel bristle brushes for cast iron and steel grills.
